Back at Home, Plans, Projects and Preps

Spread the love

Well friends, it’s my first week back at home for the winter and so far I’m loving it.

I’m making a dent in the gigantic laundry mound that’s been piling up for the past few months. Yeah, I’ve been mostly caught up once or twice in that time, but it’s a struggle for me.  I’m determined that half of the clothes can just go away.  I’ve tried selling a few of the nicer items online, but I don’t know how much energy I want to put into it when I could just drop them into a bin at the thrift store.

Today, in addition to a load or two of laundry, I plan to make and can a big batch of applesauce.  The apples from our tree seem to get shrively faster than the ones we get at the grocery store.  I don’t know enough about growing them to pinpoint if it is a farming failure, something in the tree care or harvesting for example, or if the grocery store ones have been treated to last longer.  At any rate, they’ve got to be processed or they’ll be chicken food before too long.

I also plan to gather and check batteries in our flashlights.  They’re one item that is often pilfered from our emergency supplies, and left on, under a bed or inside a toy box.  I’ve had preparedness on the mind with all the hurricane news, and feel I should take some time to  evaluate and update our 72 hour kit.  Actually lately, I almost always have preparedness on the mind.  I’m not sure if I’m prudent or paranoid, but I’m going with it and figure it can’t hurt.  (hmmm, Prudent vs. Paranoid, that might be a blog post to come.)

At some point I need to sit down and do some grocery and meal planning.  I’m two days out right now, but I’d like to have a two week plan.

Now, to put on another pot of coffee and get to it!  What are your plans for the week?
